Character Kids is currently seeking candidates for the following positions:

  • Character Kids is a mobile children's theater program that provides after school theater classes and summer camps to elementary schools, community centers and park districts. Our mission is to help children develop imagination, social skills and a positive self image through the performing arts. 

    Through our theater programs, students learn the basics of acting, singing and dancing from professional actors and/or theater educators. But more importantly, they learn important social and emotional skills while having a lot of fun! By partnering with local venues, we strive to create a safe and encouraging atmosphere for students to build characters…both onstage and off.

    Education Coordinator Job Responsibilities:

    • Supports company operations by processing registrations, creating class rosters and communicating rosters to Teaching Artists and school office staff.

    • Provides excellent customer service and communication through phone and email to parents and partner venue staff. 

    • Schedules, creates and sends parent emails including, but not limited to: marketing, enrollment confirmation, class information and showcase reminders.

    • Achieves financial objectives by assisting in finding and cultivating new partner venues. 

    • Remains on call during after school class hours for troubleshooting and communications.

    • Assists in recruiting, hiring and training new Teaching Artists.

    • Assists in curriculum development as needed.

    • Assists in developing standards and procedures, as well as automating company processes. 

    •  Assists in keeping the company website and social media accounts up-to-date.

    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

    Work Hours & Benefits

    This is a part time position of 20 hours per week to start. Pay is DOE. Hours are flexible and will be decided upon by both parties at the time of hire. Work hours will primarily be remote/work-from-home. Transportation will be required for on-site visits to our local partner venues.

    In addition to administrative duties, candidates will also teach for Character Kids’ after school classes, which will require a minimum of two (2) classes per week, with the option of a maximum of four (4) classes per week. Teaching hours will be paid at the Character Kids Teaching Artist rate (see separate Teaching Artist Job Description). 

    Education Coordinator Qualifications / Skills:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail

    • Administrative experience

    • Customer service experience a plus

    • Social media marketing experience a plus

    Education & Experience Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree preferred; ideally in theater, theater education, communications or a related field.

    Two to three years’ experience in an office setting 

    Two to three years’ experience in theater and/or theater education

    Proficient with office software

  • Character Kids is seeking Teaching Artists for the 2025/2026 school year! Character Kids offers after school theater classes at elementary schools throughout the Milwaukee area. This is a great supplemental job for working actors and/or college students. 

    Scheduling is flexible, but candidates should be available at least one weekday afternoon and have a reliable mode of transportation. Classes are one hour long and usually fall somewhere between 3-5 pm. Classes take place at our partner elementary schools and each session meets once per week for 10-11 weeks. Pay is $40/class.

  • Character Kids is seeking Teaching Artists for the 2025/2026 school year! Character Kids offers after school theater classes at local elementary schools throughout Minneapolis and St Paul’s suburbs. This is a great supplemental job for working actors and/or college students.

    Scheduling is flexible, but candidates should be available at least one weekday afternoon and have a reliable mode of transportation. Classes are generally one hour long, take place at our partner elementary schools and each session meets once per week for 10 weeks. Pay is $40/class.

    We offer classes in Shakopee, Hopkins, Edina, Richfield, Bloomington, Mounds View, St Anthony, Roseville, West St Paul, St Paul, and Cottage Grove. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday, with class times as early as 2pm and go until as late as 7:30 pm (majority of classes are between 3 and 5 pm). New this year, we are offering a Saturday morning class! We are seeking teachers with any availability during these times.

    We are happy to work with first time teachers, although candidates should have some experience in theater and/or education.
