About Our Theater Classes
In our after school theater program, students develop:
creativity • empathy • social skills • confidence
Sing! Dance! Act! In this fun-filled class, students learn the basic of acting, singing and musical theater dance while having a lot of fun! Come play theatre games, explore stage skills and learn a group song or scene from a popular Broadway musical. Parents are invited to a special performance on the last day of class! Focus is put on developing imagination, social skills and a positive self image through the performing arts.
OUR CLASSES:
take place at participating schools
meet for one hour per week for 10-11 weeks
include instruction in acting, singing & musical theatre dance
focus on building important social & emotional skills through the performing arts
end in a special performance for family and friends!
New and returning students are welcome at each session.
Students may register for any after school class, even if they don’t attend that school (unless stated otherwise).
Transportation is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

FALL SESSION:
generally runs September-November
focus is put on building stage skills through theater games and creative drama activities
additional focus on building social & emotional skill through the performing arts
For the showcase, students will work on:
a short scene (1-2 pages long)
a song and dance from a musical (unrelated to the scene)
WINTER SESSION:
generally runs December-February
continued focus on building stage skills through theater games and creative drama activities
continued focus on building social & emotional skills through the performing arts
For the showcase, students will:
work on a medium script (3-4 pages long)
learn a song and dance from a musical (unrelated to the script)
SPRING SESSION:
generally runs March-May
focus is placed primarily on a longer script (7-9 pages)
students will put the stage skills they’ve learned throughout the year to use - diving deeper into building a character, storytelling, script memoriziation and performance
For the showcase, students will:
perform the longer script, which may include 1-2 songs and dances (related to the script)
